Real conservative values

A new Rasmussen poll released Thursday found that conservative voters would rather have a record-setting deficit if it means they could get more tax cuts. Those polled were asked “Would [they] rather see a balanced budget with higher taxes or a budget deficit with tax cuts?” Forty-one percent say they would rather have budget deficit with tax cuts, with 36 percent calling for higher taxes and a balanced budget. 41% of conservatives would leave debt for their children if it meant more money in their pockets. So much for wanting children to have a better life than their parents.

Jon Stewart describes Fox News to Bill O'Reilly

"Here's what Fox has done, through their cyclonic perpetual emotional machine that is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: They have taken reasonable concerns about this president and this economy and turned it into full-fledged panic attack about the next coming of Chairman Mao," Jon Stewart told Bill O'Reilly.

"All I hear on your network is tyranny and socialism," Stewart said, adding: "How is Barack Obama a socialist? As far as I can see, the majority of the billions of dollars he's given, he's given to banks. So if he's a socialist, he's dyslexic."

Is Sarah Palin money laundering?

Here’s a question that I’ve pondered for weeks: How has Sarah Palin’s book Going Rogue managed to stay on the best-sellers list week after week? Well, we may now have finally found a clue. According to new reports, Palin’s been using money from SarahPAC, her political action committee, to buy thousands of copies of her book to send to her donors. So how much did she spend on her own books? In the last half of 2009, SarahPAC gave only $43,000 to Republican candidates for federal office. In comparison, SarahPAC spent over $63,000 buying copies of Palin’s memoir. Come to think of it this process could this be construed as money laundering. She's taking campaign contributions and using the money to buy her books and then keeping the profits from her book sales.

It gets harder and harder to deny global warming

In a strategy review for Congress this week, the Pentagon now ranks global warming as a “destabilizing force” for the first time. From an excerpt of the review: “While climate change alone does not cause conflict, it may act as an accelerant of instability or conflict.” It will be interesting to see what conservatives do with this development. How will Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK, the poster boy for conservatism) will respond to an official military review. After all he blew off previous national security warnings from military brass like retired Vice Admiral Dennis McGinn and Gens. Wesley Clark, Stephen Cheney and Brent Scowcroft.
